What is Tixel?

Tixel is a new skin tightening and contouring procedure designed to safely treat facial wrinkles without significant pain or downtime and we are the only clinic in Cornwall to offer this treatment.

Less downtime and pain

In this procedure, tiny heated cones come into contact across the face and neck for a few milliseconds to stimulate collagen, tighten the skin and allow for deeper penetration of youth activating serums.  Tixel gives similar results to CO2 laser resurfacing, but with less downtime and pain during treatments.

The treatment will leave your skin porous for six hours, thus allowing topical treatments to penetrate the skin more effectively.  As such, it is the perfect partner to Mesotherapy products and therapy to boost the look, feel and quality of your skin.

Long-Lasting Results

As well as 'low downtime', a recent scientific study demonstrated Tixel provides excellent results with low pain and quick patient recovery.  The results were shown to last 12-24 months.

The Tixel device can be used in both ablative and non-ablative treatments (relating to the removal of tissue); suitable for all skin types, it can be used on the face, neck, delicate under-eye, eyelids, decolletage and the back of the hands.

The three types of Tixel treatments are as follows:

Ablative Treatment

For skin tightening and scar treatment.  At this level, the skin will develop a small amount of crusting post-treatment which may take a week to clear.  However, after two days, this crusting can be covered with good quality makeup.  The result will be similar to a deep chemical peel or fractional CO2 laser resurfacing treatment.

Non-Ablative Treatment

Patients will be able to return to work immediately and safely reapply make-up immediately post-treatment.  The skin tightening will be like a medium-depth chemical peel but with zero recovery time.

Open-Channel Treatment

For the treatment of skin pigmentations like melasma or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Frequently asked questions

When will I see results?

Most people start to see results after just one treatment but need a recommended course of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, with lasting improvement in skin tightness and tone for up to 12-24 months. As new collagen formation generally takes 3-6 months, Dr Stolte advises a course of 3 treatments spaced 4 -5 weekly, with a review at 3 months after the 3rd treatment to appreciate the final result of 3 treatments. More sessions can then be planned based on individual results.

Does the treatment hurt?

This treatment is reasonably comfortable and generally, no anaesthetic is required; if you are, however, very sensitive to pain, then over-the-counter pain relief can be taken before the treatment.

Are there any side-effects?

If you have the ablative treatment, the treated area may swell and become red for a few days or weeks.  You may also experience some crusting of the skin, but this is nothing to worry about and is all part of the healing process as the skin rejuvenates itself.

Is this treatment right for me?

The best way to find out if this treatment is suitable for you is to book a consultation at our clinic.  Dr Stolte and his team of experts will be able to assess your skin and determine whether Tixel is the best option for your needs.
